Meet Sara Shelton
Hi, I’m Sara—a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families overcome life’s challenges. Whether you’re facing trauma, relationship struggles, or navigating neurodivergence, I’m here to walk alongside you, offering guidance, support, and strategies to find healing and growth.
Professional Experience
With dual master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and Special Education, I bring a unique blend of skills to my practice. This combination equips me to work effectively with neurodiverse couples and individuals, offering specialized insight into their needs.
I’m advanced trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) and an Associate Partner Trauma Therapist (APTT), specializing in trauma recovery and partner betrayal. As a Gottman Level 1 Certified therapist and a Prepare/Enrich facilitator for over 14 years, I use evidence-based tools to help couples understand their relationship dynamics, build on their strengths, and address areas of growth.
I’m also an American Association of Sex Addiction Therapy (AASAT) candidate, broadening my expertise in supporting clients through relational challenges.
Meet My Assistant
At just 83 pounds, Sadie may have been the runt of her litter, but today she’s full of gentle strength and heart. A three-year-old Giant Schnauzer, Sadie was passed up by many before finding her forever home—and she’s been returning that love tenfold ever since.
Docile, sweet, and full of compassion, Sadie has a gift for comforting people. Whether she’s chasing her favorite ball, playing tug-of-war, or going on walks with her family, she’s happiest when she’s connecting with others. And when she’s excited, it’s impossible to miss—her whole body wiggles, not just her tail!
Sadie proudly serves as a therapy assistant in the office, available to any clients who request her. She holds the AKC Canine Good Citizen Award and brings a calm, intuitive presence to every session. If someone is feeling emotional, Sadie senses it right away—quietly sitting beside them and offering herself to be petted. She thrives on attention and is a loyal, steady source of comfort for anyone who needs it.
Sadie is honored to be part of the care team and takes her role seriously—though she never says no to a post-session nap or a few well-earned scratches. With her kind eyes, fluffy beard, and loving heart, she’s a gentle giant who brings peace and joy wherever she goes.
